PRODUCT INFORMATION

What kind of yarn do you use?
Generally I use a soft acrylic yarn. It is man-made, so it holds up to washing quite well (will not shrink like wool, cotton), and I feel this helps avoid potential allergy issues. All custom orders will be in acrylic by default, but if you would prefer I use a natural material let me know and I will provide you with color options.

How do I was and care for your items?
Acrylic yarn can be treated pretty roughly, so it is quite alright to put your items in the washer and dryer (even hot water is ok). As for storage, most child size items will be fine folded or hung, but larger and adult-sized items should be folded to avoid stretching. Please check out my post Caring for Hand Knits for a more in-depth discussion on how to care for a variety of fiber and item types.

Do you have general sizing guidelines?
All items posted for sale have sizes listed. Some are one-size fits all and will have measurements noted. Other items (specifically "made-to-order") will have sizes to choose from, but if you read the description I have marked the corresponding measurements. I am also working my way through a series of product info posts that discuss this more in depth; you can find them by browsing my posts tagged sizing.

Can you tell me more about _______?
I am going through and doing a weekly series (every Wednesday) where I post product information and related stuff. Please look through my posts labeled product info to see if the item you are inquiring about has been covered. If you find the necessary post, but still have questions, please leave a comment and I will reply to you and update the post if necessary.

SHIPPING

What service do you use?
By default I use USPS First Class Mail which typically takes 2-5 days to arrive within the USA. On occasion I may upgrade to priority if it will save money (e.g. flat box rates), which should arrive in 2-3 days. You are also more than welcome to select the Priority Mail Upgrade option if you need your item faster.

If you have particular issues with USPS, or want overnight shipping on ready-made items, please feel free to contact me. I am willing to get you a quote for your preferred service, but please be aware this will impact price.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Unfortunately etsy does not allow me to make customized profile regions and the ones they supply by default do not work with the pricing information I have found. You are welcome to peruse the .pdf I have made of general prices, or contact me for an exact quote on your item.

CUSTOM ORDERS

How long will my custom order take?
This varies by item. Typically small infant items (booties, hats, small toys, etc) take 2-5 days on average, infant clothing items and large toys will take about 1 week, and infant blankets typically take 2-4 weeks depending on the intricacy of the design (tunisian blankets take about twice as long).

Items for older children, teens, and adults have a slightly different time line. Most winter accessories will take 5-7 days. Fingerless gloves tend to go faster at 3-5 days, and scarves tend to take longer at 7-10 days. Larger blankets vary greatly by design and could take anywhere from 4-8 weeks (you will be given a more accurate time estimate upon placing your order).

Household items tend to go very quickly. Washcloths, scrubbies, and towel toppers take 1-3 days. Hand towels, hot pads/mitts, and tp covers take 3-5 days.

These time frames are all just estimates, and I discuss why I list them as I do in this post. As always, please contact me regarding your specific request and I can give you a more accurate timeline. Often I can complete work faster than listed, but I give some allowance for other orders, shop stock, personal projects, etc. I am more than happy to work with you to find a way to get your order completed in a time frame that works for you n_n

How much will my custom order cost?
Typically, your custom order will cost the same as a similar item in my shop. I do not raise the prices just because the item is custom. Often, if you are ordering multiple items I will try to give you a small discount (this may or may not be possible depending on material costs, etc).

The only time you may see your price quoted higher than a comparable item in the shop is if you choose another fiber. Natural fibers cost more than acrylic, and in order to make a profit I must raise your price to compensate. I wrote a post describing my pricing process that you are welcome to check out if you have any questions regarding this. You can also contact me with your questions and I will answer them completely.
